These International Cities Are Showing Up For Black Lives Matter And George Floyd
Citizens of the world are expressing solidarity with African-Americans and the #BlackLivesMatter movement by launching protests in their own countries. Residents of Denmark, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany hit the streets to protest police brutality against people of color in the United States.
America is entering its seventh consecutive day of nationwide protests as patriots across the country rebel against systematic racism, oppression, and cop murderers. The volatile protests were ignited by the murder of George Floyd, an African-American man that died after disgraced former police officer Derek Chauvin forcefully jammed his knee into Floyd’s neck for eight minutes. The tragic killing is sadly familiar territory for the United States where police officers murder hundreds (possibly thousands) of African-Americans with impunity.
Anger and frustration over the abhorrent acts have birthed a needed rebellion throughout the country and, thankfully, other parts of the world. White nationalists looting, rioting, and destroying property have largely been absent from the international protests.
